Bridging the Centuries
A free symphonic concert featuring the music of LA composers alongside beloved classic orchestral works
Symphonic Music, Past to Present: Bridging the Centuries
Join us for Bridging the Centuries, an inspiring evening that connects past and present through a vibrant mix of contemporary works and timeless classics, set in Forest Lawn’s stunning Hall of the Crucifixion-Resurrection.
Conducted by Alan Medak, the program features “Call for Scores” winners Roger Ballenger, Brian C. Herald, and Christin Hablewitz, alongside Young Composer Winner Logan Westerviller. Their works bring fresh voices and dynamic storytelling to the orchestral stage, complemented by music from Charles Fernandez, Maria Newman, and L.C. Harnsberger.
The program also includes beloved classics such as Tu m'uccidi, o crudele by Don Carlo Gesualdo and the final movement of the Lemminkäinen Suite by Jean Sibelius.
Hosted by SoCal radio personality Jennifer Miller-Hammel, this unique concert celebrates the evolution of classical music—from early masterpieces to world premieres.
