Brianna Ste-Marie & Margot Cicarelli Weekend Jiu Jitsu Camp

We are very proud to be hosting for our second year in a row with such a great team of competitors. They represent values in martial arts that we love and we know you will, too. In addition, they have competed extensively and have a lot of knowledge to pass on about both the physicality and the psychology of competition.

Laurel Island is within 45 mins of New Haven and Hartford. Those who are coming by train or bus, please email us to coordinate rideshares to the island. You must be ferried to the island by the island owner. For those who will only be attending the seminar, ferry times will be posted for each day.

For those who are choosing to lodge with us, the island has several charming cabins and houses - each with their own character and feel - plus they all have decks and docks on the water. Hammocks and benches are scattered across the island. The lake itself is especially great - it's clean with a sandy bottom, nice for swimming and using the canoes, kayaks, standup boards, paddle boats and row boats. There will plenty of activities for downtime with access to the fire pit, the beaches and swimming areas, board games, ping pong table, and large outdoor patio/deck.

Our nutritional focus is on fresh, nutritious, organic whenever possible and high protein composition. Please let us know if you have dietary restrictions (kara@warriorspiritmetalhealth.org).

Massages will be performed by Tricia Atkins, a certified massage therapist and jiu jitsu practitioner who has years of experience working with athletes.

Mat space will be available for drilling and rolls so that you can effectively implement techniques into your game. Black belt coaches will be available for drilling instruction and mat safety.

Part of the proceeds for this event will go to a non-profit that aims to provide mental health and jiu jitsu to survivors of assault. As an example, in partnership with the Roxbury YMCA (Boston), this summer we are hosting a support group for victims and survivors of assault that utilizes peer group therapeutic techniques and jiu jitsu.

Full refund until July 1st, ticket transfer available any time.

There will be 2 ferries on Friday evening, one at 5pm and one at 6pm. We will host instruction and a light dinner later on that evening. If you catch the early ferry you will catch a seminar.

Ferries for day passes are at 8am (leaving from mainland) and returning at 6pm (leaving from the island).

If you miss the ferry, you miss it! You will not make it to the island for the seminars and events.

You can park your car on the mainland.

Your cabins will be stocked with yogurt, granola, bread, peanut butter, jelly, other random snacks and coffee, to supplement the main meals served.

To pay in installments, contact Kara (kara@warriorspiritmentalhealth.org).

Privates and small group seminars are also available with instructors for an additional fee. Please contact Kara for more information.

As always, proceeds go to provide free mental health services and jiu jitsu instruction for survivors of assault.
