Our “tough seasons” as parents of children (of any age) with mental illness are typically ongoing and compounding in their harmful effects to every member of our family. We can find ourselves in a near constant state of hypervigilance dealing regularly with severe issues that many will never encounter in a lifetime. How do we care for our own emotions as we continue to give our best to help our children navigate chronic and acute mental health challenges?
This month, our BREATHE Conversations Call will feature a 90-minute in-depth conversation with Adam Young, LCSW, therapist, Allender Center Fellow, and host of The Place We Find Ourselves podcast. Adam will expertly and compassionately deepen our understanding of how our nervous systems were designed and how to respond to big emotions, both within ourselves and in our children. He will talk to us about how our design is connected to the need for kindness and help us with practices to strengthen our relationships with ourselves and our children.
