About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

Join Kay and Adam Young, LCSW, therapist, Allender Center Fellow, and host of The Place We Find Ourselves podcast, for an in-depth conversation about how to be with our children when things are hard. During acute phases of mental illness, we as parents experience a rollercoaster of emotions. It can be difficult to track with and attune to our children’s emotional states and needs. How can we help our children to “feel felt,” even as they struggle? And in what ways do we need to care for our own emotions as we do our best to be with them?

Frequently asked questions

Would you recommend that my child participates in the call with me?

No, as our time together is designed for the parents/caretakers of someone with a mental illness.

I’m not a parent, but I have a loved one with a mental illness. May I still attend the call?

Yes, we would love for you to participate in the call. While some of the language will be geared towards parents, the content and spiritual encouragement is applicable.

Is there a way to watch the call at a later time?

Yes, a recording of the Zoom call will be uploaded to www.kaywarren.com/breathecalls 2-3 business days after June 15, 2024.

Will this call be interactive?

The sessions are pre-recorded; however, the BREATHE Team will be in the chat responding to comments and questions, as well as providing resources.

What is the difference between a Breathe Conversations Call and a Breathe Prayer & Support Call?

The BREATHE Conversations Series features interviews with mental health professionals and advocates, providing helpful information to the parents of people with mental illness. BREATHE Prayer & Support calls provide soul care to parents, through breathwork, devotionals and prayer.

When is the next in-person BREATHE Retreat?

The next retreat for mothers of children with mental illness is October 18-20, 2024. Registration will open mid August, 2024. Please visit KayWarren.com/BREATHEretreats for details.
