The term “Christian Nationalism" has crept up in conversation in recent years, often with confusing and mutually exclusive definitions. For some, it's a mark of the idolatry of the state, of the confusion of Gospel mission and partisan goals. For others, it's the mark of faithfulness to the Gospel, the only thing that can prevent our children's cooption into an increasingly immoral culture. In the midst of these warring camps are Christian parents and grandparents who long to avoid either error, yet lacking clarity about how this new term should affect them. We’ve invited careful Christian thinkers R. R. Reno, Ph.D., editor at First Things, and Hunter Baker, J.D., Ph.D., dean of arts and sciences and professor of political science at Union University to join John Stonestreet, president of the Colson Center, to talk us through this confusing issue toward a place of greater confidence regarding Church, state, and society.
