Join us for a conversation on the film and TV industry with two seasoned writers who are here to share their insights with the community.

“BREAKING IN – A Screenwriting Workshop” features guest hosts Kai Wu and April Shih. Whether you are a seasoned TV or film writer or looking to break in to the industry, join us for the conversation as Kai and April discuss their journeys as writers, and share their recommendations for those looking for some industry insight. We will discuss topics such as how to find representation, different screenwriting styles, and how to embrace &quot;writer’s block&quot;. We will also offer 15 minutes to workshop screenwriting pitches with attendees, so bring your elevator pitches to share with our closed group of workshop attendees for some live feedback from Kai and April! Q&amp;A to follow.Wu Kai-yu (吳凱毓) a.k.a. Kai Wu is a Taiwanese-American television writer, and the Creator of THE GHOST BRIDE, an International Original series at Netflix. She was most recently a Co-Executive Producer on PAPER GIRLS at Amazon and prior to that, she was a Co-Executive Producer on Amazon’s CARNIVAL ROW. Her previous writing credits include: DECEPTION (ABC), TIME AFTER TIME (ABC), THE FLASH (The CW) and HANNIBAL (NBC). Kai has developed for Freeform and currently has a pilot at Amazon.April Shih (石圓圓) is a Los Angeles-based television writer/producer and filmmaker. April has produced several films and plays including the Ovation Award-winning revival of Kiss of the Spiderwoman: The Musical.  She has written for FXX’s critically acclaimed comedy YOU’RE THE WORST, MRS. AMERICA (starring Cate Blanchett), UNDONE (on Amazon), and EVEL, a forthcoming limited series about Evel Knievel on USA. April is currently a Supervising Producer on FXX&#x27;s DAVE. April also has a half-hour series in development at FX with Larry Wilmore and is writing the feature film adaptation of Weike Wang&#x27;s novel CHEMISTRY for Amazon Studios. With support from the Ministry of Culture of Taiwan and Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles, the 4th Annual Taiwanese American Film Festival (TAFF) is held by Taiwanese American Professionals - Los Angeles (TAP-LA) this October. The event will be held via Zoom and moderated by Cindy Lu (TAFF Executive Director).Moderator Bio:Cindy Lu is the founder and executive producer of 3rd Astronaut, a production company focused on diverse storytelling, empowering and championing directors, writers, and producers of various backgrounds. The companies on her work roster include RSA Films, Anonymous Content, Ogilvy&amp;Mather, BBDO, and Chiat\Day, with clients such as Apple, Netflix, Nike, Epson, and American Express. Cindy currently serves as Executive Director for the Taiwanese American Film Festival (TAFF).
