BREAKING GROUND

The TEAM is an internationally-recognized Brooklyn-based theatre ensemble. Our mission is to collaboratively create new works about the experience of living in America today.The Guardiandescribed us as "theatrical excavators of American culture, American dreams and the American psyche." Combining aggressive athleticism with emotional performances and intellectual rigor, our work crashes characters from American history and mythology into modern stories, drawing unexpected connections across time to touch the raw nerves of the current moment.

Join us to help launch the TEAM's newest project: Reconstruction (Still Working but the Devil Might Be Inside)
We're wrestling with Gone with the Wind as a Confederate monument, and re-imagining American identities in the light of the current moment. 
We invite you to a celebration that will support our mission to make radical revisionist history in play form. BREAKING GROUND will include drinks, eats, live and silent auctions, and performances by the Reconstruction company, including Denée Benton (Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812), storyteller-composer phenoms James Monaco and Jerome Ellis, radical actor and poet Modesto "Flako" Jimenez (¡Oye! For My Dear Brooklyn) and the AUDELCO award winning and legendary actress, Vinie Burrows. We'll have a dance floor that opens early and we'll end the evening with a late-night communal jam session, led by Nehemiah Luckett and Anaïs Mitchell, to which all are invited. Come play and sing the demons away!
