Frequently asked questions

My child has a severe nut allergy. Are the snacks allergy friendly?

All of our VBS snacks are nut free! If your child has dietary restrictions, we ask you pack a few safe snacks for us to set aside for them to supplement their snack time. We want VBS to be safe and inclusive! Please be transparent about all allergies/medical conditions for accommodation to be made.

I have 4 kids, does each child need a ticket or do they all get registered under one?

Please select one ticket per child attending VBS. Each child will need to have their individual information put down. (Birthday, grade, allergies, etc) Any kids with different parental/guardianship info, please specify per kid, as applicable.

We're unavailable Thursday and Friday, can my child still attend Monday through Wednesday?

YES! You'll be missed for the final few days, but we want your kiddo to attend and get as much out of VBS as possible! Please still join us, and we can arrange to send the rest of the week's info/supplies with you for the last few days.

I have a 7 year old and a 3 year old. Do you offer a pre-school/daycare program for the younger age?

Our VBS is for ages 5-12. Unfortunately we do not have a preschool program this year, but with parent supervision, you may join our youngest group. There is a lounge area for parents with kiddos ages 5 and under with sensory toys, blocks, and a room set aside for breastfeeding and naptime.

Is there a parent day so I can see what my child has been learning and doing all week?

Everyday is parent day! Parents are welcome to stick around for the opening/closing program to join in on worship. If you'd like to stay with your child all day, please talk to our staff about becoming an assistant in your child's group. Procedures are in place to keep VBS safe and fun for all.

VBS is from 9 to noon, does that include pickup/drop off time?

Great question! Doors open at 8:45 for registration and drop off. Our program will start at 9. We encourage parents/guardians/drivers to arrive at 11:45 to be able to pickup your kiddo as soon as VBS is over at noon! Please pickup kids before 12:15, and communicate if you anticipate being late.

I will be dropping of my kids in the morning, can my nieghbor pick them up?

Yes! Whatever arrangements need to be made to get your kiddos to and from VBS, we're in support of! Please list any and all drivers/emergency contacts/authorized adults at registration so we know who is cleared to pickup and drop off your children.

Can i get a sneak peek of the content you wil be presenting at VBS?

Yes! Please message Taylee Boyd at 509.845.9397. Our content is all bible based. If you're unfamiliar with the Adventist church or have questions, we'd love to answer them and talk about the message we're teaching at VBS. For church information, reach out to the Kennewick SDA Church website/office.

We're not religious, are my kids still able to attend VBS?

Absolutely! You don't need any religious affiliation. Kids learn lots of lessons, in addition to biblical truth at VBS. Join families with kids of the same age, and find community! VBS is similar to a day camp with games, snacks, crafts, activities, songs, and friendship - just at church!

How much does VBS cost?

VBS is free to our community and church members! By generous donation, we're able to host a week long VBS program for our precious kiddos. Tell your friends, neighbors, and spread the word! For those who feel moved to donate, we take collection for ADRA and canned goods for our local food bank.

Does the Kennewick SDA Church have any other summer events for kids?

YES! VBS is our big summer program for kids. However the KSDA Church has lots of other small group and Children's Ministry programs for all ages. Adventures/Pathfinders, Tri-City Youth Group, Sabbath School Class for every age, and more! We welcome the whole family. Contact the church for more info!

What does the supervision/leadership look like at VBS?

Every volunteer at VBS has gone through safety training through Sterling Verified Volunteer, and a background check. Safety is our first priority! Leadership is balanced so that there's always multiple pairs of eyes on kids at all times and no mixed gender isolation to keep things appropriate.

How can we start to attend KSDA after VBS?

Simply show up on Sabbath at church! We have 2 services on Saturday morning. 9:00-10:00am. Sabbath School Breakout classes from 10:15-11:15am. Then our second service is at 11:30am. We'd love to have you! Our welcoming team will bring you in with open arms, and direct you where to go. See you there!

Can I be a volunteer for VBS?

YES! Please contact Taylee Boyd at 509.845.9397 for more info. ALL volunteers must be 13yrs old and go through our volunteer screening process. Many hands make light work, and we'd love to have you join our team!
