Meet The Author
Dr. Mariel Buqué is an Afro-Dominican, Columbia University-trained Psychologist, intergenerational trauma expert, and the author of the book Break the Cycle: a book that focuses on healing wounds of intergenerational trauma. Her clinical framework is holistic and infuses ancient and indigenous healing practices into a modern, comprehensive therapeutic approach. She additionally provides healing workshops to Fortune 100 companies including Google, Twitter, Capital One, and Facebook and lectures within the psychology department of Columbia University. Dr. Buqué is widely sought out for her clinical expertise and trauma healing approach and has been featured on major media outlets including The Today Show, Good Morning America, and ABC News. She has been named as a School of Greatness’s 100 Greatest People Doing Good in 2022.

Meet Your Hosts
Alyssa "Lia" Mancao, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker, and alumna of Cal Poly Pomona and also received her masters in social work from the University of Southern California. Born in the Philippines, she immigrated to the US at age 4, fostering a deep interest in the psychological intricacies of first-generation immigrants and their families. Currently, Lia is the founder of the group practice, Alyssa Marie Wellness, a space offering reiki energy healing and psychotherapy. Her clinical expertise spans cognitive behavior therapy and EMDR. Lia also lends her insights to POPSUGAR's mental health advisory board and has her written works shared through platforms like The Knot and Mindbodygreen. Guided by a mission to help others and destigmatize mental health, Lia works with individuals to unlock their discernment, unearth inner tools, and embrace a life of true significance.

Meet Your Host
Oludara (Dara) Adeeyo is a Los Angeles based mental health therapist, author, and social media content creator who is passionate about encouraging people, especially Black women, to face every day with self-confidence and self-love. Her first series of books, published by Adams Media, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, share specific advice and activities designed to help Black women outwardly express their inner joy: Self-Care for Black Women (2022), Affirmations for Black Women: A Journal (2022), and Mind, Body, & Soul: A Self-Care Coloring Book for Black Women (2024). Oludara’s accessible approach to writing and talking about mental health is influenced by her previous professional experience in the media industry as a writer and editor where she worked for popular publications such as Teen Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and XXL. Oludara’s bold and carefree personality coupled with her profound understanding of people has made her especially popular on TikTok where she has become a well-known cross-cultural connector and Creator who regularly posts about her own self-care practices which include (but, are certainly not limited to) dancing to reggaeton, watching telenovelas to improve her Spanish, getting her hair braided, perfecting her skin care routine, and, of course, sporting her now-signature robe and bonnet. Oludara holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California (USC) and a Bachelor of Arts in Print Journalism with a Minor in Women’s Studies from Hofstra University.
