<p>What does eating food have to do with your brain? BrainFood is a free educational public conversation and cooking demonstration of <a href="https://scienceandsociety.columbia.edu/sites/default/files/content/Documents/BrainFood_MealKitRecipe.pdf" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">avocado black fried rice</a> that sheds light on the science involved in one of our most basic everyday behaviors: eating food. </p><h3>Event Speakers</h3><ul><li><a href="https://www.chefjj.co/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">JJ Johnson</a>, Founder and Chef of FIELDTRIP</li><li><a href="https://www.melissalee.co/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Melissa Lee</a>, Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Columbia University</li><li>Moderated by Lisa Dinh, Programs Associate at Columbia University</li></ul><h3>Event Information</h3><p>Free and open to the public; registration recommended to recieve event reminders. The event will be livestreamed via <a href="https://www.facebook.com/columbiacss/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Facebook</a> and <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTYh8hHQ5nnk4nBSAe-DAow" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">YouTube</a>. </p><p>Free meal ingredient kits are available for anyone to pick up at <a href="http://www.mandalacafe.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Mandala Cafe</a> (1st Corinthians Baptist Church, 1912 Adam Clayton Powell Blvd) on August 18, 5-7 PM and the <a href="https://www.harlemgrown.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Harlem Grown Community Fridge</a> (134th St, between Adam Clayton Powell Blvd and Lenox Ave) on August 18 and 19, 1-6 PM. </p><p>BrainFood is a recipient of a <a href="https://scienceandsociety.columbia.edu/content/2021-public-outreach-grants" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">2021 Center for Science and Society Public Outreach Grant</a>. Additional support is provided by the Harlem Grown Community Fridge, Mandala Cafe, and <a href="https://www.trcnyc.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Riverside Church</a>. </p>
