Class Description
In this two day class, students will learn and enjoy the art of making a basic box along with the chance to achieve something special that will help enhance their woodworking knowledge and skills. The class will cover an introduction to wood and its properties, examples of different box joints, the use of basic shop tools such as the table saw and bandsaw along with veneering techniques and wood finishing. With Don's guidance, students will create their own box while giving them a memorable experience and the ability to take on more challenging box making projects. This class will be a prerequisite to more complex box making classes that will be scheduled in the future.
The materials fee for this class is $40. This is separate from the ticket price and is to reimburse the instructor for any tools or materials used in this class. This will be paid once, directly to the instructor at the start of the first class meeting. This instructor accepts Cash only.

Instructor - Don Boudreau
Don has exhibited his work at over 500 Art and Craft shows all over the country including the prestigious Smithsonian Craft Show. In 2011, Don was commissioned by the US State department to design and build cuff link boxes to hold the Presidential cuff links given to visiting dignitaries.
In early 2018 Don retired from the show circuit and started the South Florida Woodworking School which he sold in early 2020 and moved back to Massachusetts where he is currently teaching at the local Woodcraft store and privately.
Target Audience
Students who own a 12" combination square multi tool. Woodworkers of all skill levels or folks interested in Artisans Asylum's Wood Shop. Students must be 16 years old or older. All students under 18 must be accompanied by and under the direct supervision of a responsible adult.
Your Ticket Includes
- Wood to make your box!
- PPE: Saftey goggles and protetive hearing equipment. (Students are encouraged to bring their own if applicble!)
- Access to A2's Wood Shop and tools for the duration of the session.
Class Policies
Attire: Saftey glasses are required when entering the woodshop. Attendants should wear close-toed slip-resistant shoes (steel-toe work boots are ideal), long pants, and no loose-fitting clothing that could possibly get caught in machinery. Make sure to wear only natural fibers (i.e., cotton, wool, linen, etc) and bring reading glasses if needed for detailed work.
