About this event

This event takes you on a bus ride to Denver area locations, offering live performance, education, and embodied healing. This event leaves from Boulder. For other events May 2nd-19th departing from North Denver and South Denver, head to our organizer profile.

This isn’t just history, it’s the present. It’s not just Native history, it belongs to every person who resides on this land today. This trauma isn’t over. It’s our job to heal it, within ourselves and each other.

Journey onto Control Group’s Breathing Healing Bus to Denver sites where this history lives. Embodied participatory performance at each site invites audiences into felt experiences (sensory and emotional) of the history and its ongoing effects in the present. During the bus rides, we participate in internal somatic and visualization practices aimed at healing wounds created by and borne by the White culture that perpetrated this atrocity. Through this process of learning and healing this traumatic history, we’ll find new ways to invest collaboratively in an equitable future together. Breathing Healing is specifically designed for white/non-native audiences, with the intention of provoking some discomfort balanced with opportunities for reflection and growth.

PLEASE NOTE:

Faulty alarms driving white perpetrator living history cannot be reset without liberatory reckonings. We're calling for white people to face, feel, and confront moral crimes to release and reset these faulty alarms. We are healed when white people undergo these social emotional workouts to restore seeing no one as a stranger, the way in which all beings were born. Voluntary white reckonings are a prerequisite for healing white bodies. Indigenous people and other POC do not need to carry the burden of being present to support white recovery from historical harms. BIPOC being present while confronting violent colonial history risks retraumatization. This is not exclusion; it is protection for people of color. This show is designed to deliver quarantined healthcare for those who inherited racism as a disease.
