Bottled Heat: From Field to Flavor - a Hot Sauce Workshop

Date: Nov 1, 2025

Time: 11 am - 1 pm

Location: 1426 Juniata St

🔥 Turn up the flavor and learn to bottle your own heat!
Join Trina of The Hood Garden for an interactive, hands-on hot sauce making workshop. You’ll discover how to transform homegrown peppers into bold, flavorful sauces that balance heat, tang, and depth.

During this workshop, we’ll walk through the entire process; from preparing ingredients and cooking down your base to blending, adjusting pH, and safely bottling your finished sauce. You’ll take home a bottle of your own handcrafted hot sauce and the confidence to make more at home.

Along the way, enjoy guided tastings of Trina’s favorite pepper-based treats and value-added products made from her urban micro farm , each one showcasing how versatile (and delicious!) peppers can be.

Whether you’re a spice lover, gardener, or DIY foodie, this fiery experience will leave you inspired to grow, cook, and create more flavor from the ground up.

What to Expect

  • A live demonstration and group participation in making a small-batch hot sauce
  • Step-by-step guidance on safe hot sauce production (including pH testing and bottling)
  • Tasting table featuring Trina’s pepper-infused creations
  • A take-home bottle of freshly made hot sauce
  • Recipe sheet and tips for recreating the process at home

Who It’s For

This workshop is perfect for:

  • Food lovers and spice enthusiasts
  • Gardeners interested in using their harvest creatively
  • Home cooks curious about fermentation, preservation, or flavor-building
  • Anyone who enjoys learning new skills in a fun, community-centered setting
