Morning Keynote: A Conversation with Hock Tan and Chris McCain

This NSX Security lab will allow you to explore the latest security features in VMware NSX. In this lab you will gain hands-on experience of the many security features VMware NSX has to offer. You will have an in depth experience on the distributed firewall (DFW) to include security grouping, Layer 7 rules, and Active Directory identity-based firewall rules. You will have an introduction to NSX Application Platform: it's requirements for deployment and the features it enables. You will be able to activate and utilize NSX Intelligence, seeing the security analytics it provides. And you will be able to enable Malware Prevention, distributed IDS/IPS, and Network Detection and Response (NDR) and catch some real-world nefarious traffic and analyze it's intent and how NSX can prevent such traffic. Finally, you will explore configuring NSX security objects using REST APIs and different automation tools.

It supercharges performance with DPU and GPU based acceleration, enhances operational efficiency through the VMware Cloud Console, seamlessly integrates with add-on hybrid cloud services, and accelerates innovation with an enterprise-ready integrated Kubernetes runtime that runs containers alongside VMs. This lab is an overview of the new features in vSphere 8. After completing module 1, you should understand which of the next four modules are of interest to you. The remaining modules will use the lab environment to demonstrate new features on parallel remediation, enhanced resource management, guest OS and workload improvements and green metrics.

VMware Breakout: The Latest Innovations in vSphere

Private AI and Generative AI are hot topics, but what do they mean to you and to your customers? What kinds of applications use this new GenAI technology? This talk will provide answers to those questions and explain the VMware strategy behind the Private AI Foundation with NVIDIA. The talk will tackle two layers in the overall Private AI Foundation stack - the infrastructure layer and the data science layer, and give an outline of the technical contributions of the two companies to each of these. We look at mechanisms for connecting a Large Language model to a special kind of database for example, to ensure that your model and the business application is getting the most recent data - not data from a training exercise that was done months ago. Finally we look at a "starter" GenAI application and take a peek under the covers to see what components are used to get an enterprise going on the journey.
