BootPrints: Immersive Performance

The Peale Center for Baltimore History and Architecture, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is restoring the oldest museum building in the United States in partnership with the City of Baltimore. Through its programs, the Peale Center will illuminate the authentic stories of Baltimore's people and places while reinventing the urban museum in the creative and innovative spirit of its founder, artist Rembrandt Peale.

Experience <A HREF="https://www.thepealecenter.org/bootprints/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">BootPrints</A>, the play by <A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/latoniavalinciamoss" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Latonia Valincia-Moss</A>, as a staged reading with live chorus, immersive exhibition, and a conversation between the playwright and Angela Carroll of <A HREF="http://www.bmoreart.com/2018/05/black-grandmothers-labor-lace-and-wide-brimmed-hats.html" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">BmoreArt Magazine</A>. A vegan tasting is included in the ticket price; drinks can be purchased additionally. 
Bootprints, a memory play, delivers poetic monologues through the beauty of one woman’s life in an honest, gut wrenching performance about molestation, divorce and inequality seen through a spectrum of colors. Myeshia Adams, a born southerner, has lived in the north and transformed her life through education and marriage. At her grandmother’s death, memories of her northern and southern life collide as she grieves for more than the loss of her grandmother. The story is told through three different personas that emerge from Myeshia’s memory of “women as carpet."
BootPrints is being produced and directed by <A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/TheArtistExchang" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Nate Couser</A>, actor, artist, and host of The Artist Exchange radio show, and documented by <A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/myles.b.banks" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Myles Banks</A>. The exhibition, Standing Room Only, curated by <A HREF="http://cargocollective.com/tiffanyj" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Tiffany Jones</A> and featuring work by <A HREF="http://www.b-faulkner.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Brianna Faulkner</A>, <A HREF="http://antoniomcafee.net/home.html" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Antonio McAfee</A>, and <A HREF="http://ihenryphoto.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">I Henry Phillips Sr.</A>, accompanies the production of the film and will be on display at the Peale Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 12-6pm with Artists Talks and Workshops on Sundays, 10-4pm, from May 18-July 1, 2018.
