This workshop is a hands-on practice session where participants can try techniques for increasing precision, accuracy, and description at the sentence level. We will work through opportunities to write about our own ideas (conveying a direct message to the reader), others’ ideas (paraphrasing), and data (choosing verbs to best suit the concept).

Instructor: Kelly Crosby is a continuing lecturer in the University Writing Program where she is the Associate Director of the English for Multilingual Students division. In addition to teaching, she has been a writing consultant for faculty and TAs across campus, helping instructors design writing assignments and assess student writing. Kelly has taught in many contexts, including K-12, Intensive English Programs, and English as a Foreign Language in Brazil.
