Manchester Center, VT- Our original store, founded in 1976, is located at 4869 Main Street right in the center of town. This building, known as the Colburn House, was a continuously operating Inn for over a century before we converted it to a bookstore in 1985. We are a large (10,000 square feet) general bookstore with a large floor devoted to Children. We have tried to create a store that fosters browsing and discovery. We can, of course, get any book in print, but we believe in the joy of serendipity and have laid out the store to enhance this experience. Beyond the best in books, we offer a full line of stationery, magazines, cards, calendars, local and VT foods and many fine gifts from clothing to jewelry. In addition, the popular Bonnet & Main Cafe is attached to the store so there is no need to leave the building for coffee or baked goods or lunch.

Join us in Manchester on May 1 and 2 for Booktopia 2020, where readers and authors meet

Booktopia is a two-day weekend and celebration of reading, readers,and authors with multiple authors and attendees from around the country. At the end of Booktopia, join us for a special session that is free and open to the public where all eight guest authors will give short presentations about their books before a large group signing.

If only this could be bottled.'”--Carol Kubala Booktopia started as an event in collaboration with Books on the Nightstand, a podcast hosted by Ann Kingman and Michael Kindness, both sales representatives for Random House publishers. Now it continues on the first weekend of May every year with exclusive author events, presentations, book signings, meet and greets, and a celebratory dinner.
Booktopia is all about the attendees meeting authors and discussing their work. Each year seven or more authors are invited to participate. Authors and guests find Booktopia special because attendees are avid readers who have often read the titles being discussed--so the conversation is rich and insightful.
