A cosy monthly book & crochet club where we read, create, connect & be kind.

Welcome to the very first chapter of Booked & Hooked at The Nailwork Lounge in Mid Calder!

Join us for a relaxed evening of books, crochet, cosy drinks, snacks and good company as we start our Booked & Hooked journey together.

For Chapter One, Light It Up, you can choose your adventure:

🌙 Crescent City — Fantasy, romance & magic
🚪 Never Lie — Mystery, suspense & secrets

You don't need to read both — simply choose the story that takes your fancy.

Alongside our chosen book, we'll create a crochet project inspired by the colours, themes and imagery of the story. Complete beginners are very welcome, and we'll go through the basics together before getting started.

💛 A little more than a book club

Kindness is at the heart of Booked & Hooked. Each chapter will include a small opportunity to spread a little kindness, including our Give It Forward book idea, where pre-loved books can find a new reader.

Whether you're an experienced crocheter, a complete beginner, a lifelong reader or simply looking for somewhere new to meet people — you are welcome here.

📖 What to expect

6:30pm — Arrive & get cosy ☕️
Grab your welcome pack, choose a drink, settle in and meet your fellow readers.

6:45pm — Welcome to Booked & Hooked 🤎
A little introduction to the club, our first chapter and the Read • Create • Connect • Be Kind ethos.

7:00pm — Choose your adventure 📚
We'll introduce our two Chapter One books, chat about what we're looking forward to and go through your themed crochet project.

7:15pm — Let's get hooked 🧶
We'll go through the crochet basics together and start our Chapter One project. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced crocheter, you can work at your own pace.

Throughout the evening — Chat, crochet & connect 💬
Enjoy your drink and snacks, chat about books, get to know everyone and work on your project, read some chapters, it's entirely up to you

Before you leave — A little kindness 💌
We'll introduce our Give It Forward idea and take a moment to leave a little kindness for someone else.

8:45pm — Wrap up ✨
A little look ahead to the next chapter, photos if you'd like them, and time to finish up your projects.

There is no pressure to finish your crochet project during the event — you'll take your book and project home to continue throughout the month. 🧶📖
