Follett Content Solutions and the McHenry, IL Regional Office of Education invite you to join us for a virtual book talk. The discussion will focus on Embracing Relational Teaching by Anthony Reibel. Reibel will discuss the concept of relational teaching, a practice that puts the student before the score, their thinking before the product, and relationships in teaching. Participants in this session will:

· Explore definitions of relational teaching and its impact on student learning.

· Learn about the challenges schools face when implementing relational pedagogy and grading practices.

· Reflect on current needs in grading reform and explore how relationships with students can change grading practices.

· Brainstorm ways to make relationships core in the classroom or library.

Anthony Reibel is the assistant principal for teaching and learning at Adlai E. Stevenson High School and is the co-author of several books, including Proficiency-Based Assessment and Pathways to Proficiency.

Presented by Diana Hartmann, EdS, the McHenry, IL County Regional Office of Education Superintendent. Hartmann has more than two decades of K-12 experience and actively works with the Illinois State Board of Education and legislators on educational initiatives in the state of Illinois.
