About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes

Soulful foodies and book lovers are invited to join award-winning illustrator London Ladd for a book signing and presentation in celebration of The Gathering Table, a heartfelt new book written by Antwan Eady and illustrated by Ladd. Published by Knopf Books for Young Readers, the book is a vibrant tribute to joy, flavor, and family traditions. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet Ladd and learn about his creative process.

Author Antwan Eady invites readers into a Southern family’s world of year-round celebrations. From birthdays and anniversaries to Juneteenth, weddings, and the arrival of a new baby, the book is a tribute to Black joy, soul-satisfying meals, community, and the culinary customs that bind us.

London Ladd’s richly textured, deeply emotive illustrations breathe life into every joyful moment shared around the table. Rooted in the Gullah Geechee cultural legacy, the visuals beautifully reflect the warmth, love, and generational strength woven into each scene.
