Bombshell - The Evolution Festival

The Center at West Park is a home for arts, culture, and community in the landmark West Park Presbyterian Church on the Upper West Side in Manhattan. The Center is a secular not-for-profit organization that offers a diverse range of programs for artists, audiences, and the neighborhood; manages the building’s venues; and stewards the restoration of its historic exterior.

The Evolution Festival 2024

The 2024 Evolution Festival showcases 18 original works of theater, dance, music, and comedy by NYC-area artists from September 5-28, 2024. Learn more about the festival and the full performance line-up at centeratwestpark.org/evolution-festival-2024

Bombshell follows three showgirls on the last night at Club Fistfight, a Las Vegas nightclub where they each perform environmentally conscious cabaret acts. The girls, Scarlett, Jane, and Eliza, decide they want the club to go out with a bang. They decide to tell the audience of love story, that of Scarlett and Tony, who met at the club and fell madly for each other. As time goes on in their relationship, Tony becomes hyper-critical of Scarlett and her activism, pushing her to go further, to sacrifice more. While Scarlett knows in her heart of hearts that big business is the real enemy of planet Earth, she finds herself succumbing to Tony’s harsh feedback, losing herself in his vision of her. As things reach a peak, Tony’s big secret is revealed, and Scarlett finally fights back. But while she thinks she’s putting an end to an evil oil regime, she actually might have caused the biggest natural disaster since Bush got elected. This is a story about how far we’ll go for love, of each other and our home planet, and who is the biggest fish in the pond of environmental responsibility.
