What do I need to bring?

Just yourself! All Materials and equipment will be provided for you to use. Please feel free to bring your own pillow and pins if you have them so you can continue working between sesssions. You can borrow extra bobbins, or purchase vintage bobbins from the Textile Collective.

Question 2

Do I need any experience in bobbin lacemaking?

Accepted Answer

This is a beginner and continuation workshop.Beginners welcome. It is for those are familiar with the very basic lacemaking moves or those wanting to re-engage with the craft with a more creative approach after a time away.

Sustainability

Accepted Answer

Materials and equipment will be secondhand, salvaged or handmade from leftover sources. We will use reclaimed threads from The Textile Collective’s Community Haberdashery. Lacemaking has a tradition of sharing and passing on to the new generation and we hope to uphold this ethos as much as we can.

I can’t make this date - will there be other workshops?

Accepted Answer

Yes!  There are plans for other  workshops and classes in the future. Follow our organiser page on eventbrite or find us on instagram @laceartsocial to keep in touch. Also look out for a regular social meet-ups.

Question 5

I went to the previous workshop - can I attend this one?

Accepted Answer

Yes! In the workshop we will progress with the stitches and increase your skills, along with practicing what you previously learnt. Each week we can build up your knowledge and practical skills.

Question 6

I’m already making bobbin lace, is this session for me?

Accepted Answer

If you are a beginner bobbin lacemaker who has already got to grips with some of the basic processes and stitches, we can explore further patterns, processes and projects in this session individual to you. Please reach out directly to let me know, or to inquire about 1-2 or other creative workshops.

I have never made bobbin lace - can I still come?

Accepted Answer

Yes! I will limit  beginner tickets to two. Let me know if this is you so I can have everything ready for you.
