Wondering what this blogging thing is about? Flirting with the idea of starting one, or maybe you have one, but you’re not sure what you want to put on it? (Because, seriously, who is going to read this thing?)

Your life is filled with stories – big and small – and the virtual world is the perfect place to tell them. Whether you’re writing memoir, nonfiction, fiction, or poetry, blogging is for you. Authors like Roxane Gay and Aya de Leon expand their audiences and fuel their careers through their blog platforms. In this workshop, we’ll learn how to harness the stories of our lives to create content for our blogs. We will craft new blog posts, share feedback on blog posts writers submit for supportive group review, and cover the fundamentals of blog creation, including how to maintain inspiration and how to make choices about storytelling structure and perspective, packaging, images, and scheduling. While having a personal blog will not be a requirement to participate, our goal will be for attending writers to have gained enough knowledge and confidence to either start a blog or submit a post to a blog they love. And by the end, we will not just have attained the skills we need to either create a blog or begin submitting to blogs, we will have attained a greater understanding of how blogging can support and enhance our writing careers.
