About this event

We start with a a bit of history about the process and introduction to the materials, but then get right into carving!

Students need to come with a 3x4" square image or a smaller two color idea, that you would like to work with. Simple designs work best, and then you can add detail as you carve away.

A quick carve "Block" all tools are provided, as well as textiles samples pieces and papers. Students are welcome to bring your own materials to print on too, as it can get pretty addictive. We have large print table so students can print yardage or have fun with some smaller pieces such as a tote bag or tea towel. This class is a lot of fun, and you will be able to leave with your block, so you can continue printing on your own!

Organized by

"Better Than Jam" is the textile printing and fashion line of owner Karin Persan, since 2007. The newest space, post Covid, of the same name is now at 10 Grattan Street. There is a small showroom with remnants of the boutique that ran 10+ years that hosted handmade creations of local designers. However the space now is mainly the large private studio of the creator, where screenprinting and textile dyeing occurs. You will be welcomed into the artist's creation space! A little different for returning students but still great and lucky to have.
