Participants in this class will cut, print, and handstitch a sheepskin to create a modern day hat based on a vintage design. We'll use authentic Norwegian wood blocks and textile paint to decorate the cut out pieces and then we'll stitch them together and cover the seams using traditional Skinnfell techniques.
The $65 materials fee includes: enough sheepskin to make the hat, leather needle, thread, printed handout, use of blocks, paints, etc in class.
Student should bring:
Clear plastic quilting ruler
Pencil
Small, sharp scissors
Eyeglasses, if needed
Optional but very useful: leather thimble, small jewelry pliers, metal clips
