CounterPulse is building a movement of risk-taking art that shatters assumptions and builds community. We provide space and resources for emerging artists and cultural innovators, serving as an incubator for the creation of socially relevant, community-based art and culture. CounterPulse acts as a catalyst for art and action; creating a forum for the open exchange of art and ideas, sparking transformation in our communities and our society. We work towards a world that celebrates diversity of race, class, cultural heritage, artistic expression, ability, gender identity & sexual orientation. We strive to create an environment that is physically and economically accessible to everyone.

The community is invited to join Kat Geng in making unique sculptures from repurposed colorful odds and ends.
Think Mr. Potato Head of contemporary sculpture. Through 3 interactive stations, Kat Geng will share her creative process—from the conceptual stage to the markmaking that leaves the mind to rest—by inviting guests to create their own sculptures using everyday objects. Participants will make these assemblages to take home or share in the process giving birth to collaborative sculptures. A complimentary zine will feature creator’s stories and their inspirations alongside their artwork to be distributed at the final block fest. Perfect for holiday giving!
Every first Friday of the month from 3PM-5PM locally sourced Artist Activators offer up free art making. Block Fest is a monthly celebration of the Tenderloin’s creative spirit.
