Bleeding Control Basics (B-Con) Course
Overview

Stop the Bleed Bleeding Control Basics Course

Bleeding Control Basics (B-Con) Course

Help given by an immediate responder can often make the difference between life and death. The Bleeding Control (B-Con) Basics Course is designed for those who have little or no medical training, but who may be called upon to provide initial trauma care and bleeding control prior to the arrival of Emergency Medical Services (EMS). This course is designed to educate and prepare community members on what to do in a bleeding emergency. It includes a class presentation and hands-on skills demonstration on tourniquet application, wound packing and pressure application. The B-Con course training principles are based on the American Heart Association’s bystander CPR program, which has reduced mortality associated with out-of-hospital cardiac events, and this campaign aims to achieve like results. This one hour program is instructed by highly trained and experienced Trauma providers from Lakeland Regional Health. All materials will be provided upon course arrival at no cost.

This course is open to the public and will be held at Lakeland Regional Health. Our room is located on the first floor of the hospital in the new Women and Children's Building. It will be held in the Kathy Hunt Learning Center. This room is located on the right hand side before you reach the security desk. Please park in the D/E parking garage for ease of access to this area of hospital. For any questions, please feel free to email me at courtney.simmons@mylrh.org or call 863.284.1882.
