Experience the beauty of May by exploring the outdoors through the Environmental Resources Department's award-winning guided nature program series. With over 11,000 acres of protected land to discover in St. Lucie County, this is the perfect time to connect with nature and enjoy the beauty of wild Florida with an experienced guide.

· Saturday, May 3 – Black Mud to White Sand – Florida’s Array of Colors Walk at Spruce Bluff Preserve (4:30pm-6:30pm) – The North and South sections of this trail showcase two distinctly different habitats. The North features a rosemary scrub, while the South is a basin marsh. Join us to learn how these contrasting ecosystems can exist so close together. We’ll identify key indicator species in each habitat, explore the role of soils and hydrology, and discuss aspects of Florida’s natural history.

ERD Guided Nature Program hikes are FREE, reservations are required, and space is limited. GNP season runs from October through June. The Oxbow Eco-Center is an Environmental Learning Center and nature preserve encompassing 225 acres along the St. Lucie River and located at 5400 NE St. James Drive in Port St. Lucie. Managed by the Environmental Resources Department of St. Lucie County, Oxbow Eco-Center is a place to learn about and enjoy the outdoors. Education programs are offered for St. Lucie County resident families, and visitors of all ages. Guided Nature Programs offer a glimpse into the 11,000 acres of preserve land in the county.
