Dance as a form of healing and liberation has been a practice throughout the African diaspora for many generations. Black MAGIC Moves is a spring fundraiser for the Black Moving Affinity Group in Community (MAGIC) founded under the American Dance Therapy Association's (ADTA) Multicultural Diversity Committee (MDC).
This workshop strives to emphasize joy, liberation and sharing the stories of how Black dancers, teachers and mental-health practitioners create healing in their lives and in their communities. Attendees of Black MAGIC Moves will be able to take up to 3 1hr dance classes that cover a range of styles and movement levels, and participate in a 1hr Q&A panel with the instructors.
This event will start promptly at 1:00pm and end at 5:45pm Eastern Daylight Time.
For folks joining in-person: Classes will be held at Brooklyn Art Haus 24 Marcy Ave, Brooklyn NY 11211. Attendees have a 10 minute grace period to join class. Online ticket sales will end Friday May 3rd, 2024 @ 11:59pm EDT. Tickets can be purchased at the door via Zelle.
For folks joining virtually: You will be able to participate in classes and attend the Q&A via YouTube Live. A Black MAGIC Moves members will be present to support via chat. A link will be sent out to ticket purchasers closer to the date. Please be mindful of when classes start based on your timezone.
