About this event

  • 2 days 7 hours

Participants will learn about “computer vision”, the field of AI that is focused on copying humans’ ability to see and understand things in pictures and videos. This technology powers self-driving cars, image recognition and more. By the end of the boot camp, participants will have created their own AI-powered project that uses this technology to guide an application or game. For participants ages 11-13.

Campers will:

  • get to meet industry experts who will come speak about their work
  • receive breakfast and lunch every day of camp
  • learn wellness and mental health practices through ongoing sessions
  • make new friends!

PROGRAMMING

  • Daily coding camps led by BGC-trained instructors, ending with a capstone project
  • Daily workshops to learn leadership skills
  • Speaker sessions to model opportunities in STEAM careers
  • Meditation/movement sessions to support participants’ mental health
  • Closing demo day and celebratory event for participants to present their capstone project to their peers and ecosystem partners

Campers will leave with a comprehensive understanding of STEAM careers and potential paths they can explore, technical and coding skills tied to the camp themes, and the confidence and interpersonal skills needed to thrive in their futures.
