Event description
Black Girls CODE is hosting a 4-day long introductory computational thinking workshop

About this Event

For computer science week we will be hosting a 4-day long introductory computational thinking workshop designed to bridge the gap between those interested in computer science and beginner coders looking for a fun and facilitated coding experience using python.

Students will receive a guided introduction to programming concepts ranging from procedural decomposition (how to identify breaking down problems), to functions, conditionals and basic data structures using python.

Students will also get a chance to hear from a diverse panel of women in STEM, meet like-minded peers, and learn about careers in the field of computer science over the course of a 4-day long workshop.

Pre-requisites:

This learning series workshop is designed for high school students ages 16-17 years of age. Students do not need coding experience to participate in this workshop but we do recommend that students have a strong interest in computer science or some working knowledge of beginner level programming using Python.
