‘Powerful and very expressive vocalist Verena McBee’ (Scott Yanow, Jazz Journalist) has been on the New York scene since 15 years, and this month she is celebrating the release of her 3rd album “Bird(S)wing”. Originally from Northern Germany and with a background in acting and as a writer Verena McBee brings a lot to the table and will showcase her gifts like new, original music featured in her ‘adventurous and explorative’ manner (“All About Vocals”), celebrating her own, unique arrangements with ‘sensuous interpretation’ (Scott Yanow) and embracing her theater-soul fully and passionately. “This is a lyricist deeply committed to the lyrics and melodies she is singing” (“Staccatofy”/Steph Cosme) and she is known for making use of her very attractive ‘wide range’. (Scott Yanow) “McBee’s ability to phrase like instrumentalist is very impressive” (“Sound in Review"/Shannon Smith) Enjoy also a wide range of composers on this new album: Kurt Weill, Chick Corea, A.C. Jobim, Cecil McBee, Joe Benjamin/MoK, Cole Porter and very truly yours – Verena McBee. The Verena McBee Quartet has been growing together musically since years and their joy of performing as a group is palpable and contagious. It will be a party! Come out and join the good times!
