Birding Basics

The Green-Wood Historic Fund's mission is to maintain Green-Wood's monuments and buildings of historical, cultural and architectural significance; advance public knowledge and appreciation of this significance; and preserve the natural habitat and parklands of one of New York City's first green spaces.Please note: all ending times listed are approximate, and all tickets are non-refundable unless event is canceled or rescheduled (in which case ticket price minus service fees can be refunded).

The Green-Wood Cemetery

<DIV>Just in time for spring migration! Birding is one of the country’s fastest growing hobbies, and there is no place better to enjoy it in Brooklyn than at Green-Wood! This two-part course teaches the why, where, how, and what of birding to the beginner. With over 250 species of birds residing in, or passing through, the Big Apple every year, learn where to look for, and how to identify, many species of this diverse group of animals. The second session ends with a walk through the Cemetery, applying some of the lessons learned in the classroom.</DIV>

<DIV><EM>Green-Wood’s official birding checklist is available to pick up from the security guard at the Main Entrance at 25th Street or <A HREF="https://www.green-wood.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/gw_birding_checklist.pdf" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">to print here</A>. Comfortable footwear is recommended.</EM></DIV>
