Discover the birds around you and learn how to identify them during this beginner-friendly birding experience.
Learn how to spot and identify birds in their natural habitat at this beginner-friendly birding program. Participants of all ages are invited to discover the basics of bird identification, observation techniques, and the tools birders use to find and recognize different species. Through hands-on activities, we'll explore the fascinating adaptations that help birds survive and thrive in a variety of environments. Along the way, we'll discuss the important role Florida's natural lands play in supporting both resident and migratory birds, and how land conservation helps protect the habitats these species depend on.
This program is suitable for all ages. Participants under the age of 16 must attend with a parent or guardian.
Participants should bring a water bottle and wear weather-appropriate clothing. We recommend sun protection, bug spray, and closed-toe shoes, no flip-flops. Restrooms and a water fountain are available on site.
This program is provided in partnership with the Sarasota County Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources Department.
