Eagle Point Wildlife Management Area

With a close eye on the State’s reopening guidelines, the <a href="http://friendsofmissisquoi.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Friends of Missisquoi</a> &amp; the <a href="http://memphremagogwatershedassociation.com/en/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Memphremagog Watershed Association</a> and planning a bird walk at <a href="https://vtfishandwildlife.com/sites/fishandwildlife/files/documents/Where%20to%20Hunt/St.%20Johnsbury%20District/Eagle%20Point%20WMA.pdf" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Eagle Point WMA</a> in Derby. This annual event was suspended last year, and we’re optimistic conditions will allow us to return this year, with a limited group.To keep the walk manageable and still allow for appropriate distancing, we’re limiting registration to 16 participants. Pre-registration is required. Masks and physical distancing are still required in accordance with the most current conditions set by the <a href="https://www.vermont.gov/vermont-forward#gsc.tab=0" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Vermont Phased Reopening Plan</a>. We’ll begin at 8am and typically spend 2-3 hours on the walk. Registered participants will be notified of any changes prior to the walk, including updates in Covid-related requirements or weather concerns.<a href="https://vtfishandwildlife.com/sites/fishandwildlife/files/documents/Where%20to%20Hunt/St.%20Johnsbury%20District/Eagle%20Point%20WMA.pdf" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Eagle Point Wildlife Management Area (WMA) at Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge</a> is a 420 acre parcel located along the eastern shore of Lake Memphremagog on the United States-Canada border, in Derby Vermont. The WMA is located approximately five miles north of Newport City on the Eagle Point Road. It is owned by the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and managed by the Vermont Fish &amp; Wildlife Department in partnership. The property consists of nearly a mile of lakeshore habitat, numerous wetlands, large meadows, hemlock and mixed forest. It supports a great diversity of wildlife including aquatic mammals, waterfowl, grassland birds, and many other wetland and terrestrial species.
