Bird Migration Workshop
Led by DC Bird Alliance | US National Arboretum | 2400 R Street NE
Bird Migration Workshop
Join DC Bird Alliance at the U.S. National Arboretum for a beginner-friendly workshop exploring one of nature’s greatest mysteries: bird migration!
Every spring, millions of birds travel thousands of miles across continents, navigating vast distances with remarkable precision. But how do they know when to leave? And how do they find their way?
In this interactive session, we’ll break down the science behind migration. We’ll explore the different types of migration, from local movements to long journeys across continents, as well as how birds use the sun, stars, and the Earth’s magnetic field to navigate. We’ll also discuss how human impacts like climate change and light pollution affect their migration, and what you can do to support the migratory birds moving through our region right now.
Come ready to learn, ask questions, and connect with others who are curious about the world above us!
