Can I participate even if I don’t run?

Are all paces welcome?

Yes, the race will go off in two waves. The first wave will have individuals who plan to run under a 8 min/mi pace. The second wave will have individuals who plan to run anything above a 8 min/mi pace. All paces are welcome. All runners are welcome.

What is Metro Moovin Run Club?

Metro Moovin Run Club is your neighborhood run club that gets together twice weekly to make our way metro style around Charles River Esplanade. Our runs range from 3-6 miles, and we have two pace groups ranging from 8:30-11 min/mi. All are welcome.

What time does the race start?

The exact start time for the race will be communicated to all registered participants closer to the event date. If you plan to run, arrive at Shy Bird’s Kendall Square location no later than 6:30pm.

Are there pace groups for Bird Dash?

Yes, similar to our regular group runs, we will have pace groups for Bird Dash. Details on specific pace groups will be provided closer to the event.

Is this a competitive race?

Bird Dash is more about fun and community spirit than competition. While some participants may choose to race competitively, the main goal is to enjoy the run and connect with fellow runners and bring together the Boston running community.

What is included in the entry fee?

All registered runners will receive a free beer (21+ yo) and free Shy Bird Dunks (extra crispy fried chicken bites) at the finish. The first 50 runners to register will receive a limited edition Bird Dash 2024 T Shirt.

Will there be any support during the race?

Bird Dash is unsanctioned, so there will be no on-course support, traffic control, or medical help. Participants must ensure their safety, follow traffic laws, and stay aware. Support bikers will assist runners as needed.

What should I bring to the race?

Accepted Answer

Participants should bring water, snacks, and any other essentials they may need for the race. There will be no bag drop. Wearing bright or reflective clothing is recommended for safety. If you are 21 or older, please bring a valid ID so that you can enjoy your post-race beer!

Yes, photographs, videos, and other media may be taken during the race. By participating, you consent to the use of your image and likeness for promotional purposes by @metromoovin & @heyshybird, its sponsors, and partners, without any compensation to you.

Is there an age limit for participating in Bird Dash?

Accepted Answer

You must be 18 years or older to participate. In order to drink alcohol at our event, you must be 21 years of age or older, and must present a valid ID demonstrating said age. Regardless of age, participants should be aware of the physical demands of the race and ensure they are adequately prepared.
