WORKSHOP IAddressing Spiritual Dimension of Clients Exposed to Trauma: Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) Featured Presenter: Oladipo S. Adedeji, MS, LCPC, NCC Thursday, February 25 - 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM1.5 CEUs Course Description: This workshop will provide an overview of spiritual competencies mental health providers can develop to address spiritual and religious factors of well-being and stress in clients who identify as BIPOC. Learning Objectives:At the end of this presentation, the participant will: <ul><li>Identify the ways beliefs (or absence of beliefs) about spirituality and/or religion influence the worldview and psychosocial functioning of clients who identify as BIPOC. </li><li>Analyze how a clinician’s attitudes, beliefs, and values about spirituality and/or religion influence clients who identify as BIPOC and the therapeutic process. </li><li>Describe models of spiritual and religious development and their relationship to human development in clients who identify as BIPOC. </li><li>Appropriately apply the spiritual and/or religious perspective of clients who identify as BIPOC to the therapeutic process (e.g., clinical presence, understanding, and intervention). </li></ul>Presenter Bio: Oladipo Adedeji is a counselor at Mid-Atlantic Children’s Services, Inc. He is a nationally certified counselor and licensed clinical professional counselor in Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. He has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Trinity Washington University and his alma mater, Bowie State University, teaching courses in psychology and counseling.Oladipo administers psychotherapy and counseling for clients of all ages and demographics. Oladipo individualizes person-centered techniques and recommendations to the client’s world view to provide more meaningful understandings that can improve his or her daily life. Oladipo seeks to understand, integrate, and guide the healthy growth of clients in a holistic manner, including the spiritual, mental, emotional, social, and occupational aspects of their lives. Oladipo’s training in play therapy and the spiritual development throughout the lifespan allow him to assist children, adolescents, and adults in address stress and crises in a way that fosters healing and resilience. Children and adolescents typically experience low self-esteem, poor impulse control, irritability, family stress, peer-related conflict, substance use, and noncompliance. Oladipo guides this population toward greater self-awareness and healthier coping skills to help them meet their needs in ways that remove barriers to more meaningful relationships at home, school, and in the community. Workshop registrants will receive a code prior to the webinar to log on to Zoom and participate in the online session.

WORKSHOP IIWorking with Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC): Does Race Matter? Featured Presenter: Christopher L. Bishop, PsyD, LCSW-C Thursday, February 25 - 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM 1.5 CEUs Course Description: This course will explore the relationship with BIPOC and therapy and the hesitation of the community to engage in services. The course will also provide techniques and approaches in meeting the needs of BIPOC in a therapeutic setting. Learning Objectives:At the end of this presentation, the participant will: <ul><li>Describe the historical treatment from the medical community that has traumatize BIPOC. </li><li>Prepare clinicians to examine their readiness to work with BIPOC clients in an effective manner.</li><li>Demonstrate effective techniques and approaches in creating and maintaining a genuine therapeutic rapport in psychological assessment and therapy. </li></ul>Presenter Bio: Christopher L. Bishop, PsyD, LCSW-C is an Associate Professor and Chair of Psychology at Trinity Washington University. He is also the President and CEO of Mid-Atlantic Children’s Services, Inc., and Mid-Atlantic Psychological Services. Dr. Bishop is a licensed psychologist with a background in clinical and forensic psychology. He is also a licensed clinical social worker in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Dr. Bishop provides psychotherapy to various age groups. He also provides psychological, forensic, and psychoeducational evaluations as well as provides expert testimony. Workshop registrants will receive a code prior to the webinar to log on to Zoom and participate in the online session.

WORKSHOP IIIEthnic Identity and the Therapeutic Process Featured Presenter: Charla McKinzie Bishop, Ph.D., MSEd Thursday, February 25 - 2:45 PM – 4:15 PM 1.5 CEUs Course Description: This workshop will define and measure ethnic identity and discuss its role in the acquisition of services, the retention of clients, and the effectiveness of treatment. Learning Objectives:At the end of this presentation, the participant will: <ul><li>Analyze their own level of multicultural ethnic identity in order to have a greater understanding of their ability to work with diverse populations. </li><li>Utilize the ethnic identity theories explored to understand their relationship with current or future clients. </li><li>Assess the ethnic identity levels of their clients in order to have a clear sense of the role and salience of ethnic identity for clients and their openness to treatment. </li></ul>Presenter Bio: Dr. Charla McKinzie Bishop is an Associate Professor and Coordinator of Child and Adolescent Studies at Bowie State University. Dr. McKinzie Bishop also is the Director of Training for Mid-Atlantic Children’s Services, Inc. Her clinical expertise lies in the educational evaluation and intervention of children and teens with learning challenges and disabilities. Dr. McKinzie Bishop also has a background in vocational assessment, and has worked with teens and young adults to help determine a pathway to employment based on their individual strengths and weakness. Dr. McKinzie Bishop also specializes in behavioral evaluation in order determine the nature and severity of problematic behaviors. As an Associate Professor Dr. McKinzie Bishop coordinates the Child and Adolescent Studies major and specializes in teaching development and research topics, as well as, conducting research on adolescent resiliency and decision making. Workshop registrants will receive a code prior to the webinar to log on to Zoom and participate in the online session.

Participants must be logged on to the meeting by the workshop start time and participate in the entire event in order to earn CE credit. </h2><h3>The Pro Bono Counseling Project is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Pro Bono Counseling Project maintains responsibility for this program and its content. The Maryland Boards of Social Work Examiners and Professional Counselors and Therapists certify that each workshop meets the criteria for 1.5 credit hours of continuing education for social workers (Category 1), professional counselors, and therapists (Category A) licensed in Maryland.</h3><h3>CE credit is granted to participants with documented attendance at individual workshops and completed evaluation forms for those sessions. Attendance is monitored. Credit will not be granted to registrants who log on late or depart early from a session. It is the responsibility of registrants to comply with these requirements.</h3>
