Join us for Renfrew's BIPOC Virtual Support Group

This Virtual BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) Support Group provides an affirming space for connection and support. The group explores how cultural identity, lived experiences, and the current social climate can impact eating disorder recovery.

The group is open to BIPOC women, nonbinary and transgender individuals, including Renfrew alumni, who are experiencing disordered eating or questioning whether they have an eating disorder and are seeking additional support in their recovery journey. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with others who share similar experiences, process emotions such as anxiety or trauma, discuss barriers to care and access to culturally responsive resources, and gain practical tools to support ongoing healing.

Group discussions may include:

  • Culture, identity and body image
  • Coping with stress and social pressures
  • Navigating family and community expectations
  • Utilizing supports
  • Finding helpful resources

Meets bi-weekly on Mondays 6:00 pm - 6:45 pm ET.

Available nationwide for BIPOC women, nonbinary and transgender individuals, including Renfrew alumni ages 18+ nationwide.

Registration Deadline: Registration closes one week prior to the group start date to allow time for completion of the required pre-group orientation.
Pre-Group Orientation: To help ensure a supportive experience, all first-time participants and those returning after a period of time must participate in a brief orientation with the facilitator prior to the start of the group. During this meeting, group guidelines and expectations will be reviewed, and participants will have an opportunity to ask questions. The facilitator will reach out to schedule this meeting.

Held online via Zoom. Attendees will need access to wi-fi, and a device with a camera, microphone and audio capabilities. Attendees are required to be on camera and in a private space for the duration of the session.
