Biometrics for 6 Weeks to a Healthier You

Biometrics are offered twice to all participants who register for 6 Weeks to a Healthier You, and we encourage everyone to sign up for both pre- and post-program biometrics at the same time to simplify the process. Please use this website to get more information about this aspect of the program and to sign up for biometrics appointments.

Dates

Pre-program biometric appointments are available April 3-5. Post-program biometric appointments are available May 15-17. All weekday appointments are between 6:30 and 10:30 a.m. Weekend appointments are between 7:30 and 11:30 a.m.

What is Being Screened?

During both pre- and post-biometrics, blood will be drawn to measure total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides and glucose. This is a fasting test, so please arrive with an empty stomach (water is OK). Nurses and volunteers will also check your blood pressure and measure your height and weight for Body Mass Index (BMI).

When Will I Get My Results?

Results will be distributed at the first session of the program on April 15 for the pre-program biometrics and at the last session of the program on May 20 for the post-program biometrics.

Your results will be kept confidential and will only be given to you. Please be prepared to present identification when you pick up your results. We will use the collective data from all participants to share the overall progress of the group, but no individual results will be shared.

Who Conducts the Screenings and Where?

Registered nurses, phlebotomists and volunteers from Swedish/Edmonds will handle all aspects of the biometric health screenings. These screenings take place on the 4th floor of the hospital, at 21601 76th Ave. W, Edmonds. For best access, please park near the west entrance of the hospital (along 76th) and enter through the main doors. When you come into the west entrance, you will already be on the 3rd floor of the hospital. You can then take the elevator or stairs to the 4th floor and follow the signs to the 6 Weeks to a Healthier You biometrics. A room partition will separate the people having blood drawn from the rest.

Anything Else to Expect During Biometrics?

Upon arrival, you must present your identification, and you will be asked to sign a consent form and complete a basic survey. This survey will ask questions regarding our current activity and stress levels and should take no more than 5 minutes to complete. From there, you may proceed to the height/weight station, blood pressure station or blood draw station, depending on availability of staff. A nurse will verify that you have been to all appropriate stations before you leave.
