Bioinformatics Showcase Day

The Bloomsbury Centre for Bioinformatics is a collaborative venture between UCL and Birkbeck College. The research groups affiliated with the Centre span disciplines such as protein structure prediction and classification, genomic and transcriptomic data analysis, statistical genetics and systems biology.

The Bloomsbury Centre for Bioinformatics

The Bloomsbury Centre for Bioinformatics (BCB) are hosting a “Bioinformatics Showcase Day” on Wednesday 13 April 2016. This event will be aimed at providing life sciences researchers with the opportunity to learn about or discuss open access tools, software or databases publicly available online (or for download) with the researchers who develop these, based at UCL and Birkbeck. 
The talks will be taking place from 2pm, and will be followed by a poster, wine and laptop session (where attendees can try out, or ask questions on, tools or databases introduced in the talks session).
Speakers are experts in their respective fields and will include:

Dr Doug Speed, UCL Genetics Institute, GEE, UCL Prof. David Jones (Director, BCB), Department of Computer Science, UCL. Prof. Steve Perkins, Stuctural & Molecular Biology, UCL. Dr Domenico Cozzetto, Department of Computer Science, UCL. Dr Lee Whitmore, Department of Crystallography, ISMB, Birkbeck College, Univ. of London. Dr Lazaros Mavridis, School of Biological & Chemical Sciences, Queen Mary, Univ. of London.
