Learn about the varied biomes of Tomales Bay State Park that are teeming with life! Join our State Park staff as they guide you along the Indian Beach Trail Loop past outcroppings of salt marsh, Bishop Pines, Oak forests, and a stretch of Tomales Bay’s gorgeous, sheltered shoreline!  

To get to the Heart's Desire Beach parking lot, continue on the main road for about a quarter mile past the pay station at the entrance to the park. Entrance to the Heart's Desire parking area will be on your left. Participation in the hike is free, standard parking/day use fees apply.

This 1.7 mile hike is moderate and takes about an hour to complete. Participants should dress accordingly for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and pack snacks or a lunch, water, and sunscreen.

Are dogs allowed?

No. Dogs cannot be on trails in State Parks. They CAN be on paved surfaces (ie. Heart's Desire Beach Parking lot, Vista Point Parking lot, and the major paved roads in the park.)

Is there a parking fee?

Yes. Standard day use/parking fees apply. ($8.00 per vehicle).

Do I need to pre-register?

Registration is not required, but highly recommended for our staff's planning purposes.
