Learn the basics of using your bicycle for transportation: the gear, rules of the road, types of bikes, and locking/securing your bike!

Are you new to bicycling and want to learn more about road safety and navigation? Join us at Sports Basement Almaden to learn the basics of using your bicycle for everyday use - going to work/school, taking transit with your bike, visiting friends/family, shopping, running errands, etc.

This introductory class is great for folks interested in learning more about how to enjoy safe and comfortable biking on roads. New and experienced riders are encouraged to attend! You’ll learn things like:

  • Helmet and bike fitting
  • Essential and optional gear to improve your ride
  • How to verify your bike is safe to ride
  • How to lock your bike
  • Route planning
  • How to stay safe on a road with motor vehicles

Come prepared to ask questions and learn! Water and snacks will be provided.
