BikeLA Rail to Rail Community Ride for Week Without Driving
BikeLA is partnering with America Walks, MoveLA and Metro to lead a community ride on the new Rail to Rail Bike Path on Slauson Ave.
Join BikeLA, Metro Bike Share, America Walks and Move LA for this beginner-friendly ride! The ride will begin at the Compton/Slauson Metro Bike Share Station located in South Los Angeles. We will ride about 3.5 miles on the new Rail to Rail Bike Path to the Denker/Slauson Metro Bike Share Station (with an option to go 2 miles further) and then return to the Compton/Slauson Station.
If you would like to use a Metro Bike Share bike at no cost, please reserve an "I need to borrow a bike" ticket when you register. You must be 16+ to ride a Metro Bike.
Participants will also receive a FREE helmet and set of bike lights.
RIDE INFO
Start and End: Compton/Slauson Metro Bike Share Station
Time: Meet at 9:00AM, roll out at 9:30AM.
Length: 7-mile round trip bike ride on flat streets and a bike path.
Experience Level: This route is great for riders of all levels, those who are used to biking, and looking for different ways to explore Los Angeles. An adult must accompany children at all times; no training wheels are allowed. Children in trailers/child bike seats are welcome on personal bikes.
Getting There:

- Parking: Parking will be available on neighborhood streets, arrive early to secure a spot
What to Bring:
- A functional bicycle or wheeled device (highly recommended with gears) if you would prefer to provide your own. We do not have a mechanic on the ride and recommend you carry your own tire repair kit.
- Hand sanitizer
- TAP card or money for fare if you plan to use the Metro bus or train ($1.75 per ride)
- A helmet (If you do not have one, one will be provided free of charge)
- Water bottle
Safety Protocols:
We will be observing strict protocols during the ride to ensure the safety and comfort of all participants. Please keep in mind the following rules while attending the ride:
- If you are feeling sick or unwell, please stay home.
- Metro Bike Share will provide helmets, water, and ride marshals.
- Participants are required to sign a release of liability. No exceptions.
