About this event

  • 2 hours

Charlotte Regional Transportation Coalition (CRTC) is a diverse coalition of organizations and individuals committed to building the transportation systems the Charlotte area needs if it is to grow and prosper in an equitable, sustainable way. The coalition is convened, facilitated, and funded by Sustain Charlotte.

CRTC is hosting an advocacy workshop on Saturday, May 18 (10am-noon) at Kilborne Park (2600 Kilborne Drive). If you can, please plan to ride or bring your bike for a group ride or lace up your tennis shoes for a walk during the workshop! You are also welcome to stay at the park for a guided group dialogue if you prefer not to bike or walk. Snacks will be provided but please bring your own water bottle!

The workshop will consist of:

  • A presentation from City of Charlotte Bike Program Manager, Dave Campbell, about the state of our bike priority network and what is coming next.
  • Q&A with Dave. This is the time to voice your concerns and ideas!
  • Group experiences: attendees can choose from one of three options for 30 minutes of experiential learning about our bike and pedestrian infrastructure.

Option 1: short guided bike ride through the neighborhoods adjacent to Kilborne Park. Bring your own bike!

Option 2: short guided walk to Evergreen Nature Preserve and back to Kilborne Park.

Option 3: stay at Kilborne Park for a guided group dialogue about transportation needs in our region.

  • Reconvene at Kilborne Park for a 30-minute discussion about what we just learned during our bike ride, walk, and group dialogue.

The workshop is open to CRTC members and the general public. Bring a friend!

Location: Kilborne Park shelter. We'll have Sustain Charlotte signs pointing the way. The park can be reached by CATS bus route 9 (Central Ave and Norland Road) and then an 11-minute walk to the park.

Weather: The shelter at Kilborne Park is open-air and covered. In the case of extreme weather, we will postpone the event. If it is lightly raining, we will proceed as planned.
