Big Data may be one of the fastest growing topics in the tech industry to date. In this digital era, now more than ever, businesses are relying heavily on data and analytics in order to grow and succeed.
The challenges of managing and leveraging data will leave few businesses untouched. It is estimated that most medium-sized businesses now maintain over 200 separate, fragmented sources of data in the forms of SaaS tools, databases, and systems. Factor in the continuously evolving tools and technologies, and the recent explosion of artificial intelligence, and it can be hard to keep up. Kishawna Peck is the Founder of Toronto Women in Data Science, an organization that holds an annual conference that demonstrates the broad applications of data science across different industries and sheds light on the career journeys of women in data science. Everyone is invited to participate in the conference, which features exclusively female speakers. She is also an analytics professional currently working as a Manager of Financial Data Analytics at HomeStars. She is an advocate for diversity and inclusion in technology and is dedicated to building a diverse talent pipeline for data science and other technology fields. Her MC and moderator experience include the Government of Ontario Open Data Conference, the Collision Conference, the Big Data & AI conference, and the Jamaica Diaspora Conference.

Rosario is the Chief Privacy and Legal Officer at ICES. In her role, Rosario provides strategic advice to the organization and her portfolios include: privacy, legal, risk, audit, compliance and cybersecurity. Her strategic work is primarily focused on the intersection between data law (including big data), data governance and AI. Previously, Rosario was an associate at Fasken LLP where she provided advice to start-ups, not-for-profits and large corporations on a variety of corporate, health and privacy law matters. She has also worked in the privacy and legal groups at Cancer Care Ontario. Rosario has an LLM from Osgoode Law School (Business Law) and a law degree from the University of Ottawa. Prior to attending law school, Rosario completed a Master in Science, Public Health Sciences (population health) from the University of Alberta and was a post-grad intern at the Harvard School of Public Health. Rosario is an adjunct lecturer, IHPME, University of Toronto. She is also the deputy editor-in-chief, Health Law in Canada and a director on the board of Hospice Palliative Care Ontario.

Sam Lightstone is IBM CTO for Data, IBM Fellow and a Master Inventor in the IBM Data and AI group. He leads a number of technical teams in product development for relational databases, data warehousing & big data, cloud computing, analytics for IoT, data virtualization, data movement, and machine learning. He co-founded the IEEE Data Engineering Workgroup on Self-Managing Database Systems. Sam has more than 65 patents issued and pending and has authored 4 books and over 30 papers. Sam’s books have been translated into Chinese, Japanese, and Spanish. In his spare time, he is an avid guitar player and fencer. His Twitter handle is "samlightstone".

He met Emily Bitze through a mutual friend, and the two partnered to evolve the Bunz Trading Zone Facebook group to a powerful bartering ecosystem.
