BIBLIOTHERAPY: HEALING CHILDREN THROUGH STORIES

Join us for a special online event where we explore the power of storytelling in helping children navigate through challenging times. Discover how books can be a form of therapy for kids, offering comfort, insight, and healing. Let's come together to learn about the magic of bibliotherapy and how it can positively impact children's emotional well-being. Don't miss out on this opportunity to connect and share the joy of reading with others!

Presenter: Ann Meehan, MS, LPCC, RPT-S, EMDRIA Consultant

Not sure how to incorporate books into your play therapy practice? Maybe you have some books on your bookshelf but you aren't quite sure what to DO with them once you've read them or can't quite get your clients to engage. You feel like you are going into these sessions overwhelmed and under-prepared. You feel like you have run out of ideas and you are tired and bored of the same techniques you have been using over and over. It's okay, we've all been there.

Now, imagine, coming into your next session confident and fully prepared to use Bibliotherapy in a way that is engaging and fun for your client, and for you too! You know just how you are going to present the materials and have ideas about the specific activities you will use to help deepen the meaning of the book. AND you know fully how what you are doing will help move your client forward toward progress on goals and symptom reduction.

Ann Meehan will share with you the exact steps and strategies she uses to select books that are appropriate for Bibliotherapy and how to develop appropriately paired directive play therapy interventions. Ann will also share Bibliotherapy book suggestions.
