BIA READI Tribal Engagement Sessions

The U.S. Department of the Interior (Department) is seeking your input on how to streamline and advance renewable energy development. To collect this feedback, the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) is launching the Renewable Energy Accelerated Deployment Initiative (READI). READI aims to engage with Tribes and to inform decision makers of Tribal visions and needs regarding Tribal renewable energy development plans.

Through the BIA Office of Trust Services, Indian Energy Service Center and Division of Energy and Mineral Development, the Department will hold a tribal engagement series (hybrid and virtual) to hear directly from you about renewable energy resource needs and priorities.

Each engagement session will be guided by the following discussion prompts:

• What is your tribal vision for renewable energy development?
• What obstacles or challenges hinder your tribal nations’ renewable energy development?
• What additional resources are needed to implement your tribal nation’s vision for renewable energy development?
• What additional resources are needed to sustain your tribal nation’s vision for renewable energy development?
• How can the BIA best support tribes’ renewable energy development visions and plans?

Below is a list of dates and locations for the upcoming tribal engagement series.

4. Wednesday/Thursday, September 6/7, 2023, 1 P.M. – 5 P.M. ET, Virtual only meeting.
5. Monday, September 11, 2023, 1 P.M. – 5 P.M. MT, National Indian Programs Training Center, Albuquerque, NM 87104
6. Friday, September 22, 2023, TBD, Grand Travers Resort, Acme, MI 49690

The Department is offering a travel stipend for one (1) representative from your tribal nation to attend one of the in-person engagement sessions. For the travel stipend arrangements, please send a request to READI@bia.gov.
