"Beyond Second Chances" Re-entry Forum

Founded in 1982, the Council for Court Excellence (CCE) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan civic organization that envisions a justice system in the District of Columbia that equitably serves its people and continues to be a model for creating stronger and more prosperous communities. CCE identifies and proposes solutions by collaborating with diverse stakeholders to conduct research, advance policy, educate the public, and increase civic engagement.

Please join the Council for Court Excellence for a forum exploring the implementation of recommendations from our recent report, <A HREF="http://www.courtexcellence.org/news-events/bsc" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Beyond Second Chances: Returning Citizens’ Re-entry Struggles and Successes in the District of Columbia</A>.
Registration begins at 8:30 am, accompanied by a light breakfast, networking, and the opportunity to explore an interactive exhibit featuring portraits of returning citizens.
At 9:00 am, the three-part program will commence:
Part 1: A panel featuring people who have recently returned to DC from prison and jail, discussing their re-entry experience.
Part 2: An introduction of the Fair Chance Business Pledge, in partnership with the <A HREF="https://dslbd.dc.gov/" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="DSLBD" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD)</A>.
Part 3: A panel of local and federal government decision makers, explaining their commitments to improving re-entry in DC. This discussion will be moderated by <A HREF="https://www.opensocietyfoundations.org/people/gretchen-rohr" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Gretchen Rohr</A>. Panelists include <A HREF="https://doc.dc.gov/biography/quincy-l-booth" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Quincy Booth</A>, Interim Director of the DC Department of Corrections; <A HREF="https://dmpsj.dc.gov/biography/kevin-donahue-deputy-mayor-public-safety-and-justice" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Kevin Donahue</A>, Deputy Mayor for Public Safety and Justice; <A HREF="http://orca.dc.gov/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Brian Ferguson</A>, Director of the DC Mayor's Office on Returning Citizen Affiars; <A HREF="http://www.csosa.gov/about/bio-director.aspx" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Nancy Ware</A>, Director of the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency; and DC Councilmember <A HREF="http://dccouncil.us/council/robert-white-jr" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Robert White</A> (At-Large).
