Inclusive Postsecondary Education (IPSE) opens doors to academic, social, and career success for I/DD students.

OVERVIEW:

College is for everyone. Join Kyle Closen, experienced educator and director of the Clark Inclusive Scholars Program at BGSU Firelands, for a powerful session on Inclusive Postsecondary Education (IPSE) and how it opens doors to academic, social, and career success for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Discover how programs like CISP are reshaping what's possible after high school. Learn to use national and state-level resources, understand student outcomes, and explore what meaningful inclusion looks like in higher education. Whether you're a family member, educator, or service provider, this session will help you build realistic, empowering IEP/504 goals and find the right fit for every student’s journey.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the purpose and structure of IPSE programs and the Clark Inclusive Scholars Program (CISP), including their goals and target outcomes.
  2. Access and apply resources from Think College, Think Higher, and the Ohio State IPSE Consortium to support inclusive college planning.
  3. Identify key academic, social, and employment outcomes associated with participation in IPSE programs.
  4. Evaluate how post-secondary education can be a meaningful option for students with disabilities, and how to determine a good program "fit."
  5. Develop effective IEP/504 goals that align with the skills and expectations needed for inclusive college success.
